I agree that there's a consent connection in the mental picture that conflates homosexuality with non-consensual acts. I'm not entirely sure that I agree with the conclusion.

It seems to me that a significant portion of *male* homophobia has specifically to do with fear of gay rape. When you look at some of the studies of how many male teenagers admit to fantasizing about committing rape* and claim that they would be willing to rape if there were no consequences (which, I think, is honestly a statement about fantasy), you can see how males could project those adolescent fantasies on homosexual men and have an overt or covert belief that all homosexual men are out to rape them.

*I don't believe that means they would really commit rape. I do wish I could find the citation about the surveys.

Oh, the whole "gay rape fear" is precisely an indication of their morality, or lack thereof - it's Freudian projection.
