I've long been of the opinion that the majority does not have the right, and should not be given the opportunity, to vote on the rights of the minority.

Maryland is one of the states where it's this year.

Well, yeah, that's why they're 'rights', not 'whims' (or 'privileges'). Alas, yet again, here we are treating rights as gifts-from-the-majority instead of rights. *grrrrrr*

And that's why I love it when orators draw parallels between race issues (primarily from several decades ago, but some are still around) and LGBT rights recently/today... and why it boggles my mind when conservative black people (predominantly religious) speak out against LGBT rights and maintain that They're Not The Same Thing At All.

Yeah, and I love it when people work backwards to try to justify it, and come up with the idea that civil rights only cover things you don't have a choice about. Hello, we also don't allow religious discrimination! Perhaps you've heard of that?

(And that's without even getting into how nonsensical the "choice" argument is.)
