From "The Secret Life of Transgender Rocker Tom Gabel" by Josh Eells in Rolling Stone magazine 2012-05-31 (note that at the time the article was written, Laura Jane Grace was still going by the name Tom Gabel, though according to Wikipedia she had already switched to her current name by the date shown for the article's publication):

For as long as he can remember, Gabel has lived with a condition known as gender dysphoria. As the textbooks explain it, it's a feeling of intense dissatisfaction and disconnect from the gender you were assigned at birth. As Gabel explains it, "The cliché is that you're a woman trapped in a man's body, but it's not that simple. It's a feeling of detachment from your body and from yourself. And it's shitty, man. It's really fucking shitty."

Actually, it's like you've been given brand new SUV and shoved out the door and told to be happy, but you were actually supposed to get a convertible. There are no trade-ins and the best you can do is alter the SUV with an aftermarket patch job. You might get a pretty modification but the world still sees you in an SUV and judges you that way.

For the previous, I forgot to reference the Nissan Murano Convertible. That's what I get for commenting half-awake.

Not having seen that commercial, living in Damnark as I do, that is a great explanation! (For the record, I'm not trans but I've had a batch of friends over the years who were, and I'm hoping that everyone who reads this gets as much out of the article as ... is there to be gotten, I guess is the right way to put it.)
