"Our youth now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for their elders and love chatter in place of exercise; they no longer rise when elders enter the room; they contradict their parents, chatter before company; gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers." -- Socrates

I tried this before two or three times and it didn't work. So I gave up for a few months, but a recent conversation on Elbows got me to try again, and this time it seems to have worked:

I've created a syndicated feed for my friend Interrobang's Slashdot journal and named the feed [livejournal.com profile] rss_interrobang. So now I'll notice more quickly when she posts something in her own journal, and if any of my LJ friends who've noticed her comments in my journal (anonymous in the LJ sense since she doesn't have her own LJ account (hint hint) but often signed with "?!") or my references to her journal and are interested, they can be see that she's posted too.

Unfortunately the RSS feed is only showing the subject, first couple of lines, and URL of her journal entries, not entire posts. I guess this is a configuration detail on the Slashdot end of things, not something I got wrong on the LiveJournal end? Or is there a way for me to tweak that?

Very, very pretty colours looking east toward the harbour and downtown this morning. The sky shades from deep blue to a brilliant blue somewhere between "electric" and "royal", and there's a fiery band of red at the horizon with pink and gold atop it that looks more like a painting than an honest just-pre-sunrise sky.

I'm going to bed now. But wow is the Baltimore skyline pretty this morning.

I think that the oven is a two-cat problem. (Possibly even a two-cats-and-a-human-problem, but maybe not.)

Last night I opened the oven and found myself face-to-face with a mouse, so I scooped up Perrine and tossed her in that direction. She immediately headed into the oven for a sniff around but was too late to catch that mouse, then spent the next forty minutes in active hunting mode, trying to watch the stovetop, the inside of the oven, under the oven, the corner under the counter, and the far side of the fridge, all at once (but she hasn't mastered the skill of bilocation yet, which was an obstacle).

The problem with the oven is that mice can move from underneath to inside far more quickly than a cat -- who has to enter both locations from the front -- can do so. I'm trying to be helpful, but so far I think the only mouse she's caught near the oven was by lying silently in wait underneath the oven for a long time and waiting for one that didn't know she was there.

This afternoon when I was in the kitchen, Perrine walked in, looked at her food dish for a few seconds, then asked me to open the oven for her.

Wandered into the kitchen just in time to hear (didn't catch the DJ's name, but it should've been WRNR unless the tuner drifted again): "I have a confession. I went to see that new movie, Passion of the Christ, and I gotta say: the book was better."

My journal just got hit with LJ-comment-spam. Apparently now that PotC has opened, we get to find out what the next wave of spammage is: Indian Porn. Oddly, they picked an entry from 3 Feb to attach the comment to, rather than a fresh entry like the PotC-spam did. I've already deleted it.
