My journal just got hit with LJ-comment-spam. Apparently now that PotC has opened, we get to find out what the next wave of spammage is: Indian Porn. Oddly, they picked an entry from 3 Feb to attach the comment to, rather than a fresh entry like the PotC-spam did. I've already deleted it.

There are 11 comments on this entry. (Reply.)

I actually got it on the 4th of February. I wrote about something like microwave-opening competitions, and the next thing I know there's a great gory disgusting picture of Christ in agony posted as a comment. Anonymous, of course.

I got pretty upset. And I still think that an I had whoever sent it in my hands, I'd slit their neck, (to be humane), cut out their heart and eat it, And use their entrails as a necklace. Just a first reaction to feeling violated.

Nah. That's not legal. And I'm not really that mean. I'd just tie them up and make them listen to music they hated while lecturing them about freedom from religions not one's own.

This is a new one, no images, just repetetive text advertising Indian porn.

Oddly, they posted it again after I deleted it, attaching it to the same entry as before.

I tried to file an LJ abuse report (not that they can do anything about it, but I wanted them aware) but the form wouldn't work for me. It kept rejecting my report and telling to fill in a complaint summary even though I'd done so.

I read this message and saw PotC has opened and thought Pirates of the Carribean? That was a long time ago... It took me a few minutes to realize what it really meant. Shows you where my brain is this morning.

Whoooops ... I've been looking at that abbreviation and thinking, "There's something familiar about it that I can't put my finger on." Doh! I haven't seen either movie, but now I remember most of my friends talking about Pirates.

that you got a bunch of LJ comment spam in your journal a long ways back without looking? Is this something that only happens to paid members?

I get notified by email whenever somebody posts a comment to my journal, or a followup to a comment I left in somebody else's journal. I'm not sure whether it's a paid feature or not, but look under user settings.

Ah, I cannot use that option since I lost my email account. I guess I'll have to go back and scan my history manually in keeping with the "unconsidered life" and all that. ^_^

I have a free account and I have it enabled to get the email notifications.

One more reason I don't allow anonymous posting. If I get spam, I can complain to LJ abuse, with their user ID.

I thought about that when I saw the first Passion spam, but I've got some friends without LJ accounts who post comments to my journal (though one fewer now -- [waves hello to [livejournal.com profile] realinterrobang]) and the occasional "who the Hell was that?" anonymous comment worth reading as well.

If it gets bad, I'll disable anonymous comments. I'm holding off for a little longer before deciding though.
