"In a perfect world, I don't think it [one's sexual orientation] is anyone else's business, but I do think there is value in standing up and being counted." -- Anderson Cooper
[Today is National Coming Out Day. Coming out seems to be less of a big deal nowadays in a general, abstract sense, but it can still be a huge thing personally, and not everyone can afford to, or feels they can afford to come out. There's been progress; there's room for more. Visibility is still important. Me, I'm a trans woman who loves women. People don't assiciate me with closets, but not everyone has been kept up to date on shifts in my identity, status, and presentation, so here I am: this is me, Daphne-who-was-d'Glenn. I'm not above using Coming-Out Day as catching-up day. :-) ]

Conversely, if someone says no thank you, is it my business whether they give me a reason for that "no" that connects to their sexual orientation? If someone turns me down because I'm the wrong gender, or because I just don't smell right to them, or because they're monogamous, or they only date Yankee fans, or... the key point is that they've said no.

Thank you.
For your presence, over many Arisias past.
You're one of the people who gave me the strength to be me, by being yourself out on the con floors and halls. Skirt, guitar and all.
You likely wouldn't recognize me in person, but that's fine. *chuckles*
You matter.
Thank you.
