Arguably, what's relevant to you is that you are a person (or fall into a group/category of people) they're attracted to, and vice versa. Here and now, it may matter a bit that a man I'm involved with is bi rather than het, but it doesn't matter enough for me to affect my choices.
Conversely, if someone says no thank you, is it my business whether they give me a reason for that "no" that connects to their sexual orientation? If someone turns me down because I'm the wrong gender, or because I just don't smell right to them, or because they're monogamous, or they only date Yankee fans, or... the key point is that they've said no.
