I don't know about the people who interact with you, but rigid binary thinking definitely affects cis folks, too, diminishing cis women and trapping cis men in "macho" lifetime roles and getting them beat up sometimes, too.
I see men get this, yeah. It doesn't happen much to me, maybe because I'm not beautiful or young. My trans friends get way worse than anything I've experienced or seen. I didn't phrase it well, but I was calling the jerks who harass trans folks on their double standard of picking on a trans woman for not presenting as "feminine enough" while I mostly get a pass.
I do have the privilege of living in a blue city in the US north. That certainly protects me and my local friends from a lot of crap the people have to endure elsewhere.
