Even before it started being normal for person's of the cloth (supposedly) telling their flock that voting for X is holy and voting for B is basically a sin. It goes right back to adding "Under God" to the Pledge and making sure "In God We Trust" is standard on coins. The separation is better for all EXCEPT those who want the power of the merge and to be blunt most of them are not worth of respect as members of the religion OR as true patriots (who can see the flaws in a country and work toward fixing them).
