I think I just ran over (or at least into) Perrine's foot with my chair. She didn't cry out, but she did jump, and it felt like the chair hit something. She's not limping, but I've caught her holding her left front paw up when standing a couple of times (she's inconsistent). She won't let me get a closer look at it. But she's staying close -- she even parked herself behind my chair again (but a few inches farther away).

Ouch!

she even parked herself behind my chair again (but a few inches farther away).

Good Perrine. Smart kitty. Sounds like she's learning from just one bruise.

I once shut Lily's paw in the door, she stuck it through the crack by the hinge just as I was closing the door, I didn't even know she was behind the door. The howl she let out would have woken the dead. She was limping around and not using the foot for several hours after so I took her to the vet, It turned out to be what the vet called a soft tissue injury... A bruise! But we both learned, now I look now before closing doors, and she doesn't get behind doors and stick her feet through.

She does like to sit under my desk chair when I'm working and I'm always worried I'm going to roll over bits of her, so far all I've caught was bits of fur under my wheels, but I try to be so careful.

If you really hurt Perrine, she probably wouldn't have come back so quickly. After I caught Lily's paw, she avoided that door for weeks.

She'll be fine. I've stepped on Sugar's foot and/or tail a couple times, and you know how heavy I am - he's fine. (Just likes to be an underfoot kitty, which sometimes has its penalties...)

Cats are pretty resilient. I've stepped on paws and tails several times when they do something unexpected or go into ultra-stealth mode. Sounds like she'll be ok.

When ever this happens with me and one of my cats, I always make a big deal of catching them, checking the injury and appologising with a deep cuddle. This lets them know 3 things. 1 That the injury will be checked. 2 That I know they were hurt. 3 That I didnt mean to hurt them.

If you start this now, while Perrine is young, it will be easier when she is older and does need your help.

4) that you will add insult to injury by trying to be physically affectionate ;)
