And I've noticed that one of the nifty side effects of posting cute-cat stuff is that I can pretty much count on someone else (usually donnad) to respond with related cool/cute stuff about their own cat, so I get a bonus vicarious dose of cutey-cat on top of the pleasure of writing about Perrine.

I've always associated that behaviour with birds on the other side of a pane of glass, but following her gaze when she does that, I can find no birds. I haven't figured out what else she might be K-K-K-K-K-ing at, either.
In my house, growing up, "KKKKKK!" meant "Lookit that!" It was not an idle "Hmm, I see a bird" noise, it meant a "Hey, check out the bird!" My cat and I would stake out opposite sides of the bay window, and bird watch. If either of us saw a bird, we'd notify the other by saying "KKKKKK!" and the other would come look.
To this day, I have found that, when I am approaching an unknown cat, saying "KKKKKK!" gets more positive response than anything else, even up to walking up to me and letting me pet them.
So probably it meant something like "D'Glenn! Timmy's fallen down the well! Let's go watch!"™
