Aewake. Shouldn't be. Too groggy to do anything productive, not even hitting one of the items on my "things I've been meaning to post about" list. So a "drive by" post...

When you run into an unfamiliar LJ user, peek at their interests list. Ypu'll see plenty of the same-old same-old, but you'll also trip over phrases in the "Oh, I should've thought to mention that too", "I never thought of that before", "sounds interesting -- I wonder what it's actually about", and, of course, "whiskey tango foxtrot?" categories.

I just found someone who lists "putting bras on cats" as an interest.

And I'm sleepy enough for my mind to go off on three tangents from there simultaneously.

Right. Brain now goes off in a fourth direction, significantly yummier than the other three...

"whiskey tango foxtrot?"

*rofl* I'm stealing this phrase :)

I like to see what people have listed in their interests that no one else has. I, for instance, have the names of 2 people I took icons from because they asked me to mention them in my interests. I'm wondering if no one else took icons they made or just if no one else is acknowledging them. I also have "crawlspace radio" and the guy who ran the thing didn't even have that as an interest...

If I didn't have so damn many interests listed already I'd try to think of more interesting interests to list.

I noticed that on lilkender's list just yesterday. For some reason I was envisualizing as some sort of pirate radio you could only recieve if you or at least your antenna was in a crawlspace (like the steam tunnels at U-MD. Then I surfed for it and found it was just a web radio station and the guy running it said he was tired broadcasting to just one listener (guess I knew who that was :) and decided to shut it down a week ago.
About having lots of interests. I am debating whether to drop anything that has over 500 users cuz anyone adding that interest won't be added to the list and its more fun to be part of more rarified interests.

Oh, Keith! Hi!

I am debating whether to drop anything that has over 500 users cuz anyone adding that interest won't be added to the list and its more fun to be part of more rarified interests.

That is true but that only applies to when people are searching by "Interest". If I look at one person's info page in particular I like to see what I have in common with them. Whether or not strangers can find my name on the Interests list isn't my problem, and I don't talk about most of my "interests" enough that my page might be of interest to them for that.

...the weird thing is it has shown up TWICE on my friends page, within a couple hours of each other, and i'm fairly certain the people in question do not know each other.

I think you're right, but I'm bad with names and run into a lot of people, so I'm not 100% certain. Then again, that might change anyhow -- a quick glance at a few entries in her journal has me rather entertained.

Hmm ... latex clothing self-destructing at O F, eh?

she is quite entertaining though :)

Enjoy. I can't remember where I stole it. :-)

For your entertainment, the NATO phonetic alphabet from Wikipedia.

Thanks.

a) I can never remember most of the letters when I need them in a hurry, so I should print this out and keep it in my music bag (oddly enough, rehearsals and performances are where this comes up most often);

b) Now I finally know why I keep wanting to say "baker" instead of "bravo" -- must have picked it up from an old movie or something; and

c) I'm really entertained by the inclusions of the euphemisms on that page.

That's why I picked that page out of the many NATO phonetic alphabet pages I found. &:)

I have a cat that needs pilling daily. What did someone dose these with to get them into those suits and those poses? There are days it could be useful. Or are they just unnaturally languid types?
