"Indeed, from a logical standpoint, the illegality of polygamy seems grossly unfair. If a man has a wife, and then takes a mistress, it is perfectly legal. He can have sex with her and use her for her body without any legal repercussions. But the moment he takes responsibility for her, contractualizes the relationship, and makes an honest woman out of her by marrying her, they throw him in prison." -- Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, "Homosexuality Is A Religious Sin, Not An Ethical One"
(N.b.: This remark does not come from an essay in favour of polygamy, but as part of a line of thought examining the limits of the author's earlier reasoning regarding same-sex unions. In the following paragraph he states that he disapproves of polygamy but in the one after that comments, "But that's my opinion--why should it matter?", in keeping with his general argument that all of this belongs in the religious realm, not the legal one.)

So many good reasons

I've adopted the "questioning allowed" rule into my Christianity.

I've generally come to respect this guy, I disagree with much he has to say, but he is obviously a basically good guy with no small amount of brains. My favorite bit of this article is "But I know that religion is sacred precisely because it involves freedom of choice. This is not Iran. We don’t want a society where police can barge into a couple’s bedroom to determine whether they’re practicing sodomy or not and whisk them off to jail.".

Same here.
