My guess is the target's insecurity. It's not that uncommon for people to entertain the thoughts of one's partner's previous partners, and wondering if they might be in some way not as good. Fabio is theoretically a walking cliche of manly and desirable, so I'm guessing the guy couldn't handle being compared to _that_, since it has to be nearly impossible to measure up.
