Kitten footsteps, steam from a cup of tea (or coffee, if you insist on being heretical), and descent of snowflakes (rain just doesn't work, sorry) -- three finalists in the competition for tranquility soundtrack.
or the makings for a haiku (some ppl feel that all haiku should have a reference to the season in it, so maybe "spring rain(s)" should figure in the verse)
The right sort of rain ought to have made it at least to the quarterfinals though.
Today was definitely not in the same league as snow for utter tranquility, but it was still a respectable showing in that category. Though it probably wouldn't have been as powerfully tranquil without Perrine on my lap.
However, I'm perfectly at home with certain features of summer. The thrum of gentle rain on the lake, or the torrent of a thunderstorm, they have their appeal. While I do love it when nature goes dramatic, I also appreciate the gentle bits.
But spring is just such panic.
And while Finland is colatitudinal with Alaska, the circulation of oceans makes our climate more reminiscent of temperate latitudes. Of course, anything over +25 °C is officially termed "extremely warm" by the Finnish Meteorological Bureau.
I didn't include summer in my statement. Spring is a hullabaloo. If you were here to see everything thrusting itself heavenward despite the cold, raw days we've had more than enough of, and how fast the flora got going when we had two pleasant ones, and hear the birds are singing ere dawn, and see how they're chasing one another about... I'd probably have to draw the blinds close and fetch a cold compress.
