Argh! The entry I mailed from my phone at a stoplight was missing three words that I could have sworn I'd keyed in, the words that explain why I found the sight ominous: the fellow in the cherrypicker was hanging a stop sign over the intersection, making me wonder whether that meant they expected that signal to be out for an extended period. (The next block had electricity by the way.)

As it turned out, my lights were back on by the time I got home from rehearsal. *whew* The stop sign is still there, hanging right between two now-working traffic light assemblies.

I forget which takes precedence--light or sign. Hmm.

Here, it is police signs before traffic light before road signs before the right rule.

I thought about it while going back to sleep. It does have to be that order of precedence and they probably hung stop signs all around that intersection because they weren't sure how long the power would be out, and the driving public isn't so up on the rule where a corner with lights out becomes a 4-way stop.

The last time our power went out, Arlington plopped temporary signs in the middle of the road. At least one of them got run over.

Everyone was better behaved after hurricane Isabel (radio announced the rule repeatedly), but they' ve forgotten their manners again.

that's odd.

We had a tornado near here the other day, and according to The Toronto Star, there's a state of emergency in Peterborough, ON (Tempus' hometown) due to heavy flooding. I might call him just to be sure he's not drowned in his basement. :)
