It's quite true, except one also needs to remember the important distinction between unwanted criticism and unaccepted criticism.

I'm generally OK with being criticised. I might take it harshly, but I also learn from it. I am generally, however, less OK with a friend randomly coming up to me and telling me how something of mine totally sucked when I didn't actually want any other opinions on it.

There's also a fine line of how it's expressed. But that's getting into overanalysis...

Given my mate, criticism is the norm. I'm used to it. No criticism is wanted, but I consider it all. There have been times when criticsism felt undo. But the feelings on both sides all come from somewhere. And source is considered. It's how I grow and learn, no? Everything I say might matter to someone more than I mean it to. I've just had a (expletives deleted) lesson about it. I'm actually a marshmallow trying to look mean.
