The problem with people like you is that when one gives them a spanking, they enjoy it. Hrumph -- Evel Knievel??? I'm thinking, based upon your previous comments (see entries on the learning to read poll) that your flist members would say "Evel Knievel? Man, is he ever stupid!" You cannot possibly want to evoke that response nor emulate that sort of behavior (can you??)
You had flashes of this when you were a teen and not just on the topic of death. Even with the swiss-cheese style memory I have now, I can remember clearly and vividly several of those episodes. 'sigh'

Make us laugh while you are alive so that we can share it with you.

Admittedly, the death-during-but-unrelated-to-a-stunt thought is mostly from when I was much younger that thought Evel Knievel was kind of cool despite the "yeah, but why?" aspect. But there's still the thumbing-my-nose-at-the-odds bit that appeals to me in the idea of doing something stupid and dangerous as my final act and having that not be what kills me.

What do you mean by "flashes of this"? Speaking thoughts most folks don't speak, or something else?

And don't worry, the after-laughter is supposed to be in addition to, not instead of, making people laugh while I'm still here. ;-)

The flashes were of....conversations we had and things I could see/feel in you. Those were even harder to quantify back then than they are now....'sigh' [I am running through spoons as if I have an infinite supply which I do NOT....]

I suppose you are right in thinking that you/we talk of things most people don't. I forget that.

BTW, I just came out of a managers' meeting in which it was determined that we need to hire a transgendered programmer (I think the disability will substitute in for you not being African-American :) Yes, I surround myself with weirdness by choice, don't I? I keep my diversity hidden as well as I possibly can (as in the only person here who knows I'm Jewish is the other Jew. Go figure.)
