Ha!

Last night I wore my red, leopard-print, velour top and came to visit [livejournal.com profile] anniemal She liked what I was wearing, and hey, I like that top too, but I mentioned that the one problem with it is that it tends to shed. This morning I looked over at Mel, a largeish, longhair, extremely mellow, black cat, who was lying in a sunbeam, and caught a glint of bright, shiny red on the top of his head. Sure enough, two or three short threads from my blouse had wound up on the cat, gleaming vividly against the black fur.

Then it hit me: instead of having cat hair on my clothes, I'd gotten clothes-hair on the cat. Turnabout! Revenge! Ha!

*giggle* Sadly, the situation isn't entirely parallel, as cats do not exhibit the same levels of social embarrassment over misplaced hairs that humans do. In fact, I have yet to see evidence that cats are embarrassed by anything.

You haven't seen the look on my cats face when she accidently falls off her scratching post, or runs into something while doing her daily frenzies. I would swear if she could talk she would be saying, "I'm so embarrassed, why did I do such a stupid thing."

What, your cat doesn't give you the "I meant to do that" look? How odd; I thought it was part of kitten indoctrination, along with clawing the furniture and breathing cat-breath in your owner's face. :-)

Might have something to do with the fact that i got her as a very young kitten and she didn't have older cats to learn from. She was socialized to humans and thinks she is human (or I'm a cat, which is more likely considering how much she likes to groom me.) She has her own web pages, check it out. http://www.donnamdube.com/lily.html

What a cute kitty! Thanks for all the pictures.

I have a few pictures of my gang up, but not nearly as many as you.

Your kitties are adorable too. I am especially partial to torties like Embla. And Baldur looks like he(?) has the same markings as my Lily, maybe a bit darker, but really similar.

Yes, Baldur is a he. You're right; his markings are similar to Lily's. (His gray is contiguous -- no spots like on Lily's shoulder -- but otherwise pretty much the same.)

It looks like Lily has longer hair than Baldur, at least on her tail.

Yes, Lily has extremely long fur on her tail. And the grey on her shoulders is a bit more broken up, she has one spot that looks like a heart on her shoulder. It's cute.

Cats don't suffer attaks of embarassment. They either have fits of "I meant to do that" or acute attacks of "Dignity. Dignity. I must reclaim my dignity."

The most amusing, though, is the stage that cats go through at about 6-10 months of age:

I just literally laughed out loud at that. Oh, how I wish I could do that to Nero... There are grey clouds of cat hair piling up in my corners. If only I had more time to clean...

She really looked good in that shirt. Maybe I petted it too much...
