Recovery: Visible bruise on face is fading, but my face is still tender. Everything else seems to have healed. Not currently feeling a need tor painkillers other than ibuprofen. Writing about what was making it hard to sleep a few days ago seems to have exorcised that (so now I'm down to just my usual sleep problems, which are enough of a pain but at least don't involve torturing myself with "shouldas").
Current status: Headache, tired. Resting. Stayed at
anniemal's a day longer than I'd planned to because I
didn't feel up to driving Friday, but I'm home now (and there was
pudding waiting for me in the fridge when I got here along with
a nearly-intelligible note. Perrine demanded a lot of attention
when I got in.
Plan: Rest, watch recorded television shows (I'm out of blank tapes again), rest, look for more free ebooks to download (I just read On Basilisk Station and now I understand what the fuss is about regarding Honor Harrington), rest, try to write up at least one of the 'real' LJ entries I've been putting off, rest, answer some LJ comments, rest, try to make this headache go away, rest, take out the trash and scoop the litter box, rest, sort out my to-do list for tomorrow, and maybe rest.

Is being out of blank tapes a Good Thing or a Bad Thing? I've now got a bunch of stuff on DVD and hardly ever tape shows since we got the DVR.

I don't have a DVR (yet ... it's something I'm looking into how to afford). The thought of random-access storage appeals to me, because currently I can only free up large blocks of tape by watching a bunch of contiguously-stored shows. And also because it'd be easier to catch up on all the back episodes of a show I'm in hte mood to watch if I didn't have to hunt across several tapes for the next episode.

Is it easier to read ebooks than paper ones?
Many {{hugs}}

Paper books are mostly easier to read, certainly easier to lend, and more satisfying to own ... and don't consume batteries, but ebooks do have certain advantages. Most importantly, they're easier to carry (assuming I get them in MobiPocket-compatible format (for PalmOS)) because I can fit a handful into my PDA at once and I've alrady got that with me wherever. (There's not enough room in my purse for even a single paperback.) They're also easier to read in the dark. And I don't lose track of which room I've left them in.
With paper books, even considering only the free ones, I've got a larger selection. With ebooks, I don't have to leave the house to obtain them.
