Being out of blank tapes is a bad thing, but not as much so in summer rerun season than when I have a lot more that I want to tape. (Lately I've either been not home or not feeling patient enough to sit in front of the tube, so the "I don't want to miss this" and "I'll want to see this later" piles have been growing.
I don't have a DVR (yet ... it's something I'm looking into how to afford). The thought of random-access storage appeals to me, because currently I can only free up large blocks of tape by watching a bunch of contiguously-stored shows. And also because it'd be easier to catch up on all the back episodes of a show I'm in hte mood to watch if I didn't have to hunt across several tapes for the next episode.

Is being out of blank tapes a Good Thing or a Bad Thing? I've now got a bunch of stuff on DVD and hardly ever tape shows since we got the DVR.
