... Comparing our society's response to sudden natural and unnatural disasters such as earthquake, hurricane, or terrorist attack, to "victims of the creeping disaster of poverty".

Mentioned now as much to remind myself of a writeup I mean to do of an interesting radio program from a few weeks ago, as to share the meme at the moment.

That makes poverty the mother of all creeping disasters, seeing as how it started with the first hierarchical societies. Somebody's gotta be at the bottom of that pyramid.

Which is probably why eradicating it is impossible unless we find an alternative to a hierarchical society.
