Argh. Car is moved to a legal spot, but the last attempts to move it last night (or overnight lossage, I'm not sure) left it with insufficient battery power to test my almost-out-of-gas hypothesis. Need another jump, and still don't know for sure what else.

So I may or may not be making it to rehearsals this week, depending on how the rest of this afternoon goes.

1.5 V across a 12 V battery isn't a good sign.

But at least I found out why the truck that had been parked in front of me started up at 10:30 and didn't move until 12:20. (Bad compressor, takes a long time to build up enough pressure to work the brakes safely. The driver said usually 90 minutes, but longer today because of the chill.) I did get the car moved before Parking Enforcement came around.

Damn straight it isn't. You're probably dealing with a dying battery, and if it's not dead, it soon will be if this kind of radical up and down keeps up.

You need to borrow a battery charger and take the battery *inside* and see if it even takes a charge, charges up, and holds the charge.
Don't do it in the car because even idle, the car has loads that will skew the data. It is also probably bad to leave live tech/tools out on your street.
Alternately, you could have a serious alternator problem, which if you do, has probably damaged the battery.

I've borrowed a charger. Ty said to go ahead and charge it in place, but I'm nervous about just leaving an extension cord running across the sidewalk for that so I'll probably go ahead and bring the battery inside.

I expect the battery to be fine, but yes, I'll check it. I'm not feeling terribly confident in that guess.
