"There is a belonging that goes beyond language. There is a society that's older than wheat. There is a warmth more ancient than fire. We are closer to our world than we think. When you feel most alone, hold still a moment. Listen. You'll hear the world speak. This is one of us. Let him pass." -- [livejournal.com profile] axiomaxiom, 2005-05-31

I got that line from the recent revelation that human's domestication of the dog may in fact be 12,000 to 15,000 years old. If so, we'd have had dogs before we domesticated wheat or rice or took up farming in any manner.

Of course actual WHEAT is older than any mammal, true. Some of the wheat germ I have in my pantry appears to have been there since Sumer and Acad.

I can't tell you how it feels to be a QotD. Honestly, it's a strange and wonderful sensation. Thank you, Dglenn.

I hadn't realized that story touched you so deeply. I was only trying to be observant and honest. It's amazing what those two together can do.

Thank you.
