Last night it snowed very dramatically, but as promised, washed away again this morning. Tonight they're predicting snow that'll stick, 3"-5" in B'more by the time it stops on Tuesday. Knew there was something I forgot at the grocery store yesterday: cottage cheese. Wanted to see whether sprinkling Old Bay on it and eating it would summon tardy salt trucks to my street like it did in February. Not quite curious enough to brave snow-panic shoppers just for that one item though. 'Specially not tired as I am right now.
Have to remember to check snow-emergency status (sounds like too little to trigger it, but with the first accumulation-for-rush-hour snowfall of the season, y' never know). And figure out where I left my gloves last spring.

Betcha if you call McCormick's at 1-800-Meal Tip, and tell them that sprinkling Old Bay on cottage cheese will summon tardy salt trucks, they'll send you some samples and coupons. Or at least they used to do stuff like that when I temp'ed there in 1999.

When I get near the end of the tin of Old Bay currently in my pantry, I'll try calling McCormick's and see what happens. :-)
I note that Old Bay seems to be a popular "If you're coming up from Maryland could you please bring me..." item for the folks in Boston.

Which is odd, as I'm sure the Star Market in Porter Square used to carry it. Surely it's at least obtainable at Cardullo's...
But I suppose it's most authentic if it's come straight from Baltimore!
*wonders where to get Old Bay in Southern California...*

True for a lot of places, based on the calls I took when I temp'ed there. (The guy calling from West Germany enthusing over Montreal Steak Seasoning was a bit over the top.)
I asked, and while they never wanted to get into the mail order business, they got so many requests for stuff like this, they set up a mail order division. I mailed a bunch of folks catalogs so they could get the big honking bottles of food dye.
