For what it's worth, I've been labeling CD-Rs with Sharpies for years with no problems. At my current job I have been labeling dual-layer DVDRs with Sharpies for 11 months now and have never had one returned because of anything that could possibly have been Sharpie-related damage. And I am *totally* the disc-burning go-to person here.
