I just ate a bag of microwave popcorn. At the bottom were four cracked-but-not-popped kernels, which I crunched with satisfaction, and a mere fifteen completely unpopped kernels. Not bad. (It was decent popcorn, too (though not great), and pretty inexpensive IIRC.)

Before I forget, here's a cute picture.

And a confession: I'm now nosily curious as to [livejournal.com profile] silmaril's comfort food. None of my business, I know; but my brain is itching. Oh well. I'll distract myself with a meme.

Well, I didn't mean I'd like the meat, sugar, and dairy all in the same combination. The first is separate from the other two, as in sometimes I'm going to go into a "hamburger. Steak. Meat." mode. The latter two are rather handily combined in... wait for it... ice cream.

Anyone surprised?

Anyone?

Bueller?

A good gravy is built on cream. Thus, we already have meat and dairy. And sugar is sometimes just the thing to take the worst sting off a pepper.

And given that there exist herring ice creams, I would not be very surprised if someone came up with a steak tartare sorbet.

Well, there is that. There is also the undeniable fact that I love beef stroganoff, especially the kind Chort (mutual friend of me and [livejournal.com profile] dglenn) makes. And I think he uses lotsa table cream in that.

I've recently heard of a meat-flavoured ice cream; might have been in your journal. And yesterday, Jesse my belly-dancer friend gave some sushi-lollipops to another friend who had come along to watch the show. They were shaped like little pieces of sushi, but I don't know if they tasted anything similar...

I have been lucky enough to be able to sample garlic lollipops. I bought a tubful of assorted garlic candy at the event.

Garlic lollipops I'd never seen. I've enjoyed garlic butter-creams (made by [livejournal.com profile] anusara) though. Yummmmm!

[makes mental note to pay close attention to the sorbet flavours at [livejournal.com profile] jbsegal's next party]

Interesting concept, but as a vegetarian I think I'll leave the taste-tests to others.

Ah. I was just reacting to the single hyphen in the "if you've been embarassed about your comfort food but are willing to disclose it anyhow" box. ;-)

There's an annual party I really must drag you to one of these years. Really.

There's something about this post that breaks my friends page so badly that it crashes my browser (IE 6.0). When I go to your journal directly, or to the post itself, however, it's fine. I wonder why?

That's really odd, since all the complicated stuff is behind the cut-tag. Starting the clue-hunt now. Wondering whether anyone else is having the same problem.

The only obvious problem was that I forgot to close an tag. (Odd that that would glitch the friends view but not the entry view, but if the problem is fixed now, then I guess that was it. Do let me know either way.)

Next step is to wade through the page source generated by LJ, unless I crash first.

A clue (don't know yet how helpful, but hey, a clue): your friends page looks fine in Opera 6.03 with Javascript turned off. Now if I had every nitpicking detail of the differences in how Opera and MSIE behave, it might be a bigger clue...

It's all fixed now! Thank you! The next post below this one on my friends page is a locked entry, containing a poll. Possibly your unclosed tag interacted badly with that entry? And since you couldn't see it, maybe that's why you didn't have the same problem?

Thanks again! &:)
